Gifts in Action
Your gift is a beacon of hope and healing.
You already know that we are dedicated to providing world-class care as one of the top three pediatric hospitals in the nation. But you may not know exactly how we can use your gift to make that happen.
Your donations improve the lives of children and families for generations to come.
There is no higher calling than helping each child live the best possible life. At Cincinnati Children’s, it’s at the center of everything we do. It drives our passion to provide some of the best pediatric care in the world. It pushes us to share our ideas, discoveries, and advancements and collaborate with families throughout the healing experience. Your support ensures that we can continue giving each patient the best treatment, specialists, and answers. We are changing the outcome together.
Terence L. Horan, CLU®, ChFC®, CAP®
Corporate responsibility is more than a motto for HORAN Wealth’s President and Chief Executive Officer Terence L. Horan, it’s a way of life. Throughout his career, Terry has given countless hours to community organizations including Cincinnati Children’s. He served the medical center as a valued board committee member, advisor, and chair of the William Cooper Procter Legacy Society. His wife, Christy, was a founding co-chair of The Celestial Ball for many years.
This month, Terry celebrates his 50th anniversary at HORAN which is celebrating its 75th year serving our community. The company was founded by his father, Jack, in 1948 and Terry was the organization’s second employee. He leads a growing team of financial professionals to deliver comprehensive wealth management, financial planning, retirement and insurance services. “My area of expertise has always been related to helping families transition well from one generation to the next,” Horan said.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Terry with deep appreciation for his commitment to changing the outcome for our kids and families.

“Sometimes even modest gifts can make a big difference, and helping my clients find the right philanthropic fit can be life-changing. I regularly work with the Legacy Planning team to help clients who want to make an impact on pediatric care and research.
“In 2020, we worked with the team to craft a charitable lead trust for our client that would benefit in part, mental health, and in part, the Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute. The team was thoughtful, responsive, and easy to work with. They understood the trust design and implementation and the benefits it offered both the grantor and Cincinnati Children’s. Their passion for the cause is contagious! There are no greater champions for Cincinnati Children’s!
“I start the gift planning conversation by exploring the donor’s values and interests. I open my ears and truly hear them: their goals, desires, fears, etc. Planned giving takes just that. Planning. It doesn’t happen overnight. It is a process and my job is to help guide it. There is no greater reward than being part of a team that creates positive impact for its community.”
Your support helps further the health and life quality of our patients.
How? When you make a gift to us, your valuable donation may go to any of a wide range of programs and initiatives, including the following:
- Patient care. Help us care for sick and injured children, fund essential treatments and procedures, and make the healthcare experience less scary for our young patients.
- Research facilities and projects. Fund our dedicated facilities and projects to potentially lead to breakthroughs in pediatric medicine.
- Expertise and equipment. Support treatment that is better for our patients by helping supply special pediatric equipment, hire and train experts, and discover innovative ways to improve the health of kids everywhere.
- Specialties for every need. Donations help meet needs within our various departments. From allergies to cancer, critical care to genetics, infectious diseases to sports medicine, we stand ready to help each child where they need it most.
- Access to care. We plan to more than double the number of inpatient hospital beds and add surgical operating rooms at our Liberty Campus in Butler County, and we just opened a new building in Northern Kentucky.
- Financial assistance. Help us provide free or discounted services to thousands of families each year who are unable to pay for the care their child needs.
Make your gift more meaningful.
- A dedicated gift. You can make your contribution in honor or memory of someone special.
- A directed gift. You can choose to put your donation toward a particular program, department, or initiative that resonates with you.

“I regularly work with the Legacy Planning team at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital to help my clients who want to make an impact on pediatric care and research. The most impactful gift I have helped a client achieve was one in which they were able to honor the memory of a loved one. This organization was one that the loved one was passionate about and dedicated time and talent to, so for my client to be able to give in their honor was so meaningful.
“I think it’s important to let the client lead the discussion—I try to truly listen to what their wishes and desires are. Planned giving is so much more meaningful when the client’s true passion is displayed.”
